Who Are We?
JROTC was established by Congress as part of the ROTC Vitalization Act of 1964, and began in high schools in the fall of 1966. The Canyon Hills High School’s (formerly Serra High) NJROTC program was established in 1986 to promote leadership, discipline, pride, physical, emotional and personal appearance. NJROTC’s purpose is to develop good citizens and community leaders. It is not a recruiting tool nor is there an expectation that cadets will join the military.
Our Goals and Objectives include:
Promoting patriotism.
Developing informed and responsible citizens
Promoting habits of orderliness and precision
Developing a high degree of personal honor, self-reliance, individual discipline, and leadership
Promoting an understanding of the basic elements and requirements for national security
Developing respect for and an understanding of the need for constituted authority in a democratic society
