The NJROTC Academics team is a competitive team that focuses on testing cadets’ knowledge of a wide range of subjects, including naval science, military history, leadership, current events, and general academic topics like math, science, and English. Cadets on the team prepare for and compete in academic competitions, such as Brain Brawl or the SDUSD All-Service Brigade Academic League, where they answer questions in a quiz-bowl style format. Some competitions also include standardized test-style questions. Being on the Academics Team helps cadets improve critical thinking, teamwork, and study skills, while also contributing points toward their unit’s overall NJROTC competition standings.
